Location

Where is the sign going?

Is there an existing pole or structure that will support the weight of a video board? (If there is not currently a video board, there is a very good chance it will not support the sign, or need re-enforced.)

What underground utilities are there? ( make sure we call 811 to ensure the desired location is capable of being excavated.)

Call the city and see if a permit is required, and what the restrictions are for a video board?

Is it rocky, shale, or is it soft? Makes a difference in whether or not we drill a hole or do a spread footer.

Electrical requirements

Is there existing electrical there? Ask what size breaker runs it, and how many circuits are there? Typically there will be one 20-amp circuit for a regular sign. Get a picture of the breaker, and the electrical going into the sign if possible, or any electrical boxes on the sign. I will determine what needs to be done electrically

Does the location have ethernet as an option?

How far is it from the nearest wifi connection?

If we need to run electrical, or ethernet, what would we need to trench through?

Get a picture of the path and upload it.

Ask the customer what their goal for this sign is with the sign, and if there is an alternate location. Just in case the underground utilities or soil does not support the sign location within their budget. We can put a sign anywhere, even if we need to do an above ground, ballasted stand. It will just cost. So, always take full site pictures, so if we need to look at an alternate location, we have that on hand.
